Colt's first sippy cup....He knew where to put it right away and it looked like he was getting it!
And just when I thought I had a baby genius on my hands.......he did this:
Oh well, better luck next time. Here's Colt's new favorite position. And he is oh so proud of himself.
Wow...crazy dogs running by....

Lazy Day
Colt spent the first half of the day with Grammie (my mom) while Kreg and I went to breakfast and ran some errands. Then we just had a nice lazy Saturday! He's really getting good with his scooting, I'll have to take more video tomorrow. He's getting very determined and frustrated with trying to crawl. He can army crawl pretty well, and at least it gets him to where he wants to go for now!

One Cool Dude
My mom took these pictures yesterday while Colt was over at her house enjoying his cool new toy! The poor guy is still so stuffy but in good spirits, so we've been taking it easy and skipping all of our appointments lately (which has been a nice break actually).

Little Bookworm
Colt loves books! He likes to be read to, and especially likes it if you let him try to eat the book.
This little motorcycle jacket and pants have been waiting for Colt to get big enough to wear them. I am going to take him to get his pictures done, so we had a wardrobe try-on yesterday. Pretty manly huh?
What a big boy he is getting to be. Can you believe that in less than 6 weeks, Colt will have his first birthday! I can't believe how fast that time went!

Big Boy
He' s starting to get up on all fours now, belly off the ground! He'll be off in no time! We learned some fun news last week. The San Diego Blood Bank wants to use our family for a Christmas time commercial to spread the word on life saving blood donations. (Colt got 13 blood transfusions, and without those would not have lived). They are coming to our house to film the commercial, which means I get to decorate our living room for Christmas in September! It'll make up for my bah-hum-bug Christmas I had last year. I didn't decorate or send out Christmas cards (which if you know me is really out of character) last year since I was busy pouting about Colt being in the hospital. So I will get to do it twice this year since I doubt Kreg will let me leave it up until December. I'll be sure to take loads of pictures, and maybe I can find a way to post the commercial on the blog once it's done. I don't know where and when it will air. But Kelsey is pretty excited to be on TV!
Here's a little video of Colt trying to scoot, he's getting better at it everyday

Baby, You Can Drive My Car!
Look at my cool new car that my Grammie Mary and Papa Brad bought me!
Beep, Beep! Move outta my way!
We haven't seen the lip in awhile....here it is again.
If you look really close you can see the two teeth popping in!! I think if you click the photo it will enlarge and you'll be able to see the "toofs"!! Colt's almost 100% better, and so is his momma. Crappy summer colds, yuck!

Colt LOVES Dogs
Colt just started taking an interest in holding his bottle, hasn't quite figured it out yet though.
I would agree that sushi is a little funny looking, but Colt had an afternoon yesterday where the dog was hilarious. Here is a short video of it, I have never seen him laugh so much. Everything was funny! Must be feeling better :)
We did go to the doctor yesterday morning and she said that she'd give him 24 hours to feel better but if he didn't, then we start him on antibiotics. She also sent me home with the breathing treatment machine just in case I hear it starting in the lungs, but he seems almost all better today. I, on the other hand, feel like crap. So I guess it's my turn, off to the doctor today to get something to feel better myself!

Dog Park
My mom, Kels, Colt and I took the dogs to the dog park last night. They've never been to a dog park, so I was a little nervous how they would behave. Everybody had a really good time, including Colt who seriously got a kick out of all of the barking. I forgot how much the kid loves barking, everytime a dog barked he started cracking up. This one german shepard towards the end was barking up a storm, and Colt had himself in stitches. By the time I got the video camera out, the dog was off doing something else. So Kelsey tried to recreate the situation for me on camera. The dogs were so pooped when they got home, and even this morning they still haven't gotten out of bed yet.

Cool Guy Hat
Colt loves to stick out his tongue, this is what I get when I say smile now.
The new teeth are cementing the "everything in the mouth" situation even more.

Doesn't this look like the life! Playing the day away! Looks like two teeth are coming in now, two little ones on the bottom!

Tooth Fairy
Smiling at his big sister this morning!
This is Kelsey inspecting the inside of Colt's mouth to see the new tooth.
Colt has just learned to sit up on his own for a whole minute!
Colt woke up this morning with a tooth! It's a tiny little tooth, and you can't really see it yet but it definitely broke through the gums so here it comes! I knew it! And the doctor told me last time he didn't look close to getting them, but I knew it because he's been acting textbook like a teether. Yesterday he had an incredibly cranky afternoon and refused to nap, and I just thought he was having a bad day but nope! Kels and I were pretty excited to check out the tooth this morning.

OT
I think Colt has now figured out that when the camera comes out, he is supposed to smile. It's so easy now!!
Best pals hanging out together during patch time. Sushi is an excellent distraction.
These two just love each other!
I forgot to post the happenings from Colt's Occupational Therapy evaluation. She said he looks great and doesn't need therapy. She'll check him again in six months but he did great. She ran a bunch of tests on him, and he did everything she wanted him to do. He tested in the 7-8 month range, which good because he is 6 1/2 months adjusted (10 1/2 months real age). They don't consider that behind, since they'll give him three years before they expect him to test at his real age level but he could catch up developmentally faster. So needless to say I was very happy about that! He was such a charmer during the session, I have never seen him take to a stranger like that. He normally needs a warm up period before he starts being all smiley, but right off the bat he was smiling and even laughing for her. He was flapping his arms at her when she looked away to get her attention, it was really quite funny.

For Tabitha
Does Colt look happy to see Tabitha or what?!?
Here's us again back at the Hospital.
She was there with us on this journey since day 1! Thank God for her. We talked a lot about the whole journey, and all of the hard moments and joyful moments we experienced in the hospital. She provided so much encouragement and hope for us, and took such great care of our little man. She held him when we couldn't be there, always made sure he had his bath and was wearing clean matching clothes for us when we got there! She scrapbooked fun signs for his isolette, took his footprints for us, found encouraging words for us when we felt hopeless and always made me feel welcome to call 100 times a day if I wanted to. She's not only a really sweet person, but a fantastic nurse. We so enjoyed meeting her husband too, who is a marine (seriously, they are saints. A NICU nurse and a marine, does it get any better than that? He serves our country and has been to Iraq a couple of times, and she takes fabulous care of all the sweet babies in the NICU). Two very amazing people that we are so blessed to call our friends.

Expressive
Here is Mr. Expressive, I swear this kid is like a one man circus of facial expressions. The bottom video is what Colt does when he's really tired. He talks to himself and makes loads of strange faces. We're off to OT this afternoon and tonight- a special treat! Our wonderful nurse Tabitha from Children's Hospital and her husband (who we haven't met yet) are coming over for dinner tonight. We haven't seen her in a few months, so we're excited!

Laughter
Here is Mr. Giggles from yesterday, he's so funny sometimes I don't even think he knows what he's laughing at.
I'm gonna vent again how much I hate Verizon. Geez, they were here the other day digging up the street for FiOs, and hit a line in front of our house so no internet or phone since last Friday and we won't get it back until this Friday (thank god for the PC card so I can feel connected to the net for a short time here and there!) So if I don't blog as much this week, that's why.
Tomorrow we go to Physical Therapy to get evaluated by the occupational therapist, which I realize sounds strange. But it's not that we're making Colt get a job, it's for a fine motor skill evaluation. Hopefully, we'll get a passing grade and won't need that kind of therapy too. I am therapy'ed out!! I think Colt is too.
Kelsey came home last night, woohoo! We got to see her for a quick visit but hopefully we'll get to see her again soon. She's off having more fun at camp today and tomorrow but school starts so we'll get to kidnap her afterschool this week for playtime! Colt can show her his new tricks he's learned while she was gone.

Crazy Mom
Okay, so the other day I was thinking to myself about all the things I said I would never do when I became a mom. So far I have done the exact opposite of everything I thought I would do. One of those things was to not follow my kid around taking pictures of every single thing they did, which as you can well see I have completely failed at. I think that the camera is permanently fused to my hand. But seriously, when you have this little happy guy hanging around- you can't help it!!
