Halloween Fun

Colt and Kels hanging out at Juice it Up this afternoon...we took Kels for a treat before we headed out to the beach. Kels was Johnny Appleseed for school today but will transform into Dorothy later on!

This was Colt this evening, well past his bedtime- watching the cars pass by on Coast Highway. He was in awe of all the people and lights!

He had fun watching all the new sights and listening to the new sounds! The little party animal didn't go to bed 'til 9! Super late for him!!

Our Past Halloweens

I thought I would revisit some past halloween photos for fun! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Last year.....The wicked witch of the west, I mean Kelsey, flew in to town.

Here's Colt's 1st Halloween last year! Our little black cat! But this one is Good Luck :)

Our preview of this year's costume.

Little Pirate Girl Kelsey 2 years ago.

Sushi as Frankenstein, doesn't he look positively stoked to be joining in on the festivities! Bob would absolutley not have the halloween costume thing so at least Sushi humored me for a photo. This was 2 years ago also!

More photos to come of our Halloween! Have a safe and happy halloween!

Speedy

This little scooter is so FAST! I wanted to capture his little scoot on film so I never forget how funny he is cruising around the living room. He's starting the up on all fours so I didn't want to miss out on this part. He just wants to stand all the time now, pulling up on anything and everything.

His cold got a little worse today so I took him to the doctor since I have been instructed to bring him in anytime he starts coughing to have his lungs listened to. It's not in his lungs thankfully, but we do have to go back to breathing treatments for awhile until the coughing subsides. Yucky cold/flu season is starting to show it's ugly face already!!

Curious George

All the toys in the world....and the laptop, remote, cell phone seem to be the most interesting fun for baby!! Colt's doing great except for a little tiny cold. We've been passing it around in our house :)

Colt's Best Friend

He has the death grip on sushi's collar- he's not leaving even if he wants to!! These two continue to crack me up. Every day he loves those dogs more and more.

Face Off

Mealtime is really the dog's new favorite time of day, now that tasty morsels make their way on to the ground. Nice little face off going on here between Sushi and Colt. Colt looks like he's telling Sushi, "I dare you to try to get my food."
Happy Birthday to Papa Brad today!!

Pulling on up!

Look at me, the big boy pulled himself up to the ottoman all by himself and stayed up there awhile after finding my cell phone to keep busy with.

What's the best part of being a baby....FOOTED PAJAMAS, OF COURSE! Man, I have been waiting for it to get cool enough to break out the flannel footed PJ's, and finally it has been cool enough at night to break them out. Because seriously, is there anything cuter than that?

Silly Jumper

Grammie bought Colt a mini trampoline (more for future use) since he can't get enough of jumping. For now he really just likes to explore it, and lay on top of it...he really looks quite proud of himself while he's sitting on top of it. He did do some assisted jumping on it, and did enjoy himself very much. Colt's his name, jumping is his game.

Look at those TOOFS

Look at my top toofs!!! They really are making their way in! Colt had a rough day today...fever, a little barfy, and cranky. He seemed a little better this eve, so hoping that is was just a 24 hour thing. Loads of fun bugs are being passed around right now I hear...so wash your hands!!

Mom, I'm on a phone call.......

Doesn't this expression say....."Mom, I'm on a phone call!?!"

So, I have been so LAZY with the glasses since we got them. They are a PAIN! He hates them, coupled with we have to fight the entire time to keep them on, and they don't fit that great. So, I sewed the strap to make them sort of fit better and Colt's teacher has decided we must find a way to make them work. (Thankfully someone is there to make me do it). We got 15 minutes out of him yesterday, which was huge. And today we did 15 minutes this morning, and about 40 this afternoon. It's super hard to do! We strap him into this little blue booster seat and give him loads of toys to distract him while playing a Baby Einstein video. He actually watched the video for awhile today- which means he can see it :) Towards the end he decides he WILL NOT wear them any longer and off they go. We'll just have to keep this battle of wills going, and hopefully I win.

Physical Therapy Fun!

Climbing at physical therapy!
He looks like such a big boy in this chair. We're really working hard on getting the busy bee to sit still long enough to work on sitting!

Great, a monkey on our hands

So Colt 's desire to walk/climb is far greater than his ability thus far...which equals falling down a lot. Today he took it a step further and got all the way to standing in his crib at nap time, and he is so brave that he then lets go. This makes him go sailing backwards and slamming his head into the crib rail behind him. So he's now grounded from his crib until further notice, and into his pack n' play until he can actually control himself.

Weekend With Grammie and Papa Brad

Uh oh...trying to escape.....

I don't have pictures to prove it.....I guess other than pictures of Kreg, Kels and I without Colt...but we left Colt with my mom all weekend so we could go on a mini-vacation to Oktoberfest in Arrowhead. I did survive the weekend, much to my surprise as my first night away from him was a rough one. I think this was easier because we were actually away, while the last time we went out and then came home and it was so sad being home without him there in the morning! He had a great time over the weekend, and we did too (but we obviously missed him). He was far more excited to see Kelsey than he was to see me when we picked him up (which hurts the mommy ego but whatever).

Today Colt had to get his big one year old shots! Yuck! He's weighing shy of 20 lbs. now but is almost 30 inches tall which makes him a skinny kid I guess. So I've been told I need to bulk him up with some more protein....so far he's not a meat eater and really likes to keep to his fruits and veggies so we'll see what we can trick him with!

Biker Dude

If I have anything to do with it- there will be no Harley in this kid's future...so the closest he can get to a motorcycle will be a motorcycle jacket! He has some growing to do first.....he's in there somewhere!

Coolest shirt ever.

Climber

How does a baby bypass sitting and go straight to pulling up? Colt is so un-interested in sitting still that he's just plain moving on to pulling up on the couch, baby gate, his playpen, a person...whatever is in his way all of the sudden. He's taken a few tumbles today so far, but seems to be taking it like a tough guy.

You haven't seen the glasses at all because they just don't fit right which makes it impossible to keep them on. We're working with the optician for a solution!

Giggle Pot

This cracks me up....you can see the anticipation on his face!!

Gideeeeee-yup!!

Thank you Jack and Jody for Colt's horsie!!

Happy Birthday Colt!

Happy 1st Birthday Colt! Today was a fantastic day, the weather was awesome, and we were able to celebrate Colt's first birthday with friends and family. Here's a quick peek at our day, with tons more photos to come this week.

We started the day with a baby dedication (similiar to a baptism or christening) at our church. It was extra special because Pastor Dale was there to dedicate Colt for our family. Here is why that is so special to me......the day we found out about Colt's brain bleed, to say we fell apart would be putting it lightly. I called our wonderful friend Neil that next morning in a panic- not knowing what to do. The night before, the doctors had told us we needed to decide whether or not to take Colt off of life-support. I don't think I ever posted that before because at the time, I don't even think I could manage to type those words. So Neil got on the phone to our church and Pastor Dale and Chaplain Scott drove right down to San Diego to be with us, to pray with us and to just talk with us.

Pastor Dale was able to go back and see Colt (which was extremely limited to only 4 family visitors total) but because he was clergy- he was able to go see Colt and pray over him with us. Just to be faced with that decision was life-altering, even though, looking back I don't think we would ever have even considered it. But being asked, is bad enough. Pastor Dale helped encourage our waivering faith and was there to help keep us strong through an extremely tough week. They stayed by our side through the entire journey, praying and checking in on us. So it was so special to finally dedicate Colt to God, because afterall he is his miracle.

Colt's birthday cake was well received.....the boy likes chocolate :)
Colt was too busy to smile, he was busy enjoying the frosting.
Four generations of McCoys!
Here's Kelsey letting Colt open his birthday gift from her- more chargers stuff! Woohoo!

Today was such an awesome day! I don't even know where to start. The day, like this first year, went by really fast. I wasn't able to let it all sink in until we got home and Colt and I enjoyed some quiet time after his bath, in the rocking chair before he went to bed. The year's events finally hit me, and I finally had a good cry with Colt in my arms. We are so blessed, not only to have him here with us, but to be surrounded by such an amazingly supportive family and wonderful friends. I probably don't thank them all enough in getting caught up in life, but as I sat down with those quiet moments tonight I was consumed with gratitude for everything everyone has done for us. From the prayers, to the phone calls, visits, gifts, and love that has been showered on us and on Colt.......we are eternally grateful for everything. Thank you to all our family and friends, and strangers alike- who care about our family and about our little guy. It's a joy to be able to share him with everyone.

Lots more pictures from today to come!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone!

Lots of Love,

The McCoy Family

Glasses? Who needs 'em!

Here's Colt in his new glasses!
Oh Boy, he just realized they can be moved.
And that didn't last but 10 seconds..........who knew that would happen!?!
Colt is finally starting to have a little interest in sitting, he just started pushing himself up to sitting halfway. He's just too busy to sit still!
Look at these charger fans! How cute! 1 more day to the big birthday!!
