He Understands Me!!!

Okay, the clapping was an enormous accomplishment in my book.....but now he understands the word NO! Yeah! I am sure in the very near future it will be used against me, but for now he really understands me when I say NO- and what's better is he actually listens. (Enjoy it while it lasts, right?) Here's another cute picture from our Chargers day!

Clap, Clap, Clap!

I have been trying to teach Colt how to clap his hands for a few months now, and the hard work has paid off! Yesterday morning I was clapping at him and he clapped back! It was one of those moments that make parenting the absolute best! Excuse the horrible quality of video but I was home alone and really wanted to catch it on video :)

Happy Turkey Day!

Colt had a really yummy feast of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and yams. He loved every bite! Grandma Margaret outdid herself, everything was fantastic!

Notice the nice little bruise on the forehead...... he's a trouble-maker for sure. Here he is with Dad, cruising the furniture and working up a good thanksgiving appetite.

Here's Caroline trying to teach Colt how to play the harmonica. These two were so cute together!

More Caroline and Colt playing together...... next year he'll be chasing after this cutie pie!

Colt, Papa and Caroline hanging out in Papa's chair together!
We had a great Thanksgiving today, many things to be grateful for. We hope everyone had a safe holiday, and enjoys a nice weekend with their families!!

A cute moment...

This was my favorite moment from yesterday, I forgot to add it to the post below. Colt reached out and started patting his jersey mid-photo. It was SO cute to see his face when he looked down to see that tiny hand on his chest, he was reduced to a goo-goo ga-ga giant of a man. I love it!

GO CHARGERS!!!!

Today we went down to San Diego to the Charger's 30th Annual Blood Drive with the San Diego Blood Bank. The San Diego Blood Bank, being the wonderful organization that they are, invited us down to meet the players and checkout their event. It was a really cool day, hundreds of people came out to donate blood. Colt had a pretty good time! Can you tell? He's so busy staring at the ladies, he forgot to look at the camera. Look where the eyes are at! Typical male, huh!

I think he's in love.

The players were all really cool! They were so nice to take pictures with this cute kid who was a little worried about all these huge guys crowding around!

More Puppy Love

My mom got a new puppy this weekend so she brought him over to play with Colt. He seemed to like the little guy, he's pretty darn cute! Colt had his first Thanksgiving meal a little early, we celebrated Thanksgiving with my mom and Brad last night and he got his first tastes of turkey and LOVED it! We snuck him some creme brulee too, so he was a happy guy :)

Yay for Jello!!

Patricia always comes up with fun things for us to do with Colt when she comes to work (play) with him. So we got Jello today! Just a fun little thing to do to let him explore and get dirty!

All in about 15 minutes.....

Just in case nobody believes me when I say that Colt is ALL OVER THE PLACE ....... I thought I'd show you what a typical day looks like. This all happened in less then 15 minutes. I literally chase behind him all day long. I can't remember what sitting feels like? I actually saw him grab the top rail of the pack n play and hang from it that same evening. I think we'll just go ahead and plan on some ER visits in our future given his complete disregard for his safety :)

So he CAN sit?

Kreg and I couldn't figure out if Colt couldn't sit unsupported or wouldn't? We've been told not to let him sit on his knees anymore because I guess it's bad for hip development so we've sort of forced him into sitting positions this week and guess what? He can do it all by himself, no hands or help? (yes he still falls and loses his balance). As ridiculous as it sounds, I was really getting worried that he wasn't going to figure out sitting. I've never seen a baby bypass sitting, go straight to crawling, pulling up and cruising. Neither had our Physical Therapist. So that's one less worry off of my plate, I am sure I wil be filling it back up with another one momentarily. Parenting=worrying.

Keeping Occupied

Colt's new favorite thing to do is take everything out of his toybox. It keeps him busy for quite awhile. He's pretty good about entertaining himself with his toys!

I love to compare!

I think it's fun to look at how much he's grown from time to time....... I was getting ready to retire the boppy since he's too big for it, but he wanted to play with it before it got packed away. He looks like a monster compared to his tiny little former self! I know you're not supposed to compare your baby to anybody else's baby, but I find myself wondering how he stacks up to other babies at his adjusted age (9 1/2 months adjusted). There was a 10 month old baby at the pediatrician waiting with me for awhile so we got to talking (me and the parents, not me and the baby- ha!). He looked like an absolute monster in size comparison. And he actually seemed a little ahead or at least right on with her. So that made me feel pretty good, since I worry relentlessly about him!!
He's drawn blood now at least three times this week in his falling. He's all over the place, cruising, climbing, crawling. I am so pooped chasing him around, I don't know how I will keep up when he gets older. So far he has: cut his eyelid, nose, ear, tongue, and gums. No need to call CPS...... even when I am inches from him, I just can't catch the little booger every time. Dad says it's good for him to fall a little, but I don't know if I'll ever be good with that!!

Colt's happy as long as he doesn't have to sleep!

He's a pretty happy guy if he's getting his way.... I have no idea where he got that from???

Spaghetti Face

Thank God he's cute...... because this little booger is testing momma's patience this week! We can't figure out why all of the sudden bedtime and naptime are like the worst form of torture a human being can endure. He used to be a perfect angel at bedtime, went down no problem. Now all of the sudden, it's the tantrum of a lifetime! I even took him to the doctor to get him checked out today because in his little fits he started pulling his ears so I thought maybe an ear infection.....but nope! He's totally fine, just out to make sure I am completely broken in as a mom :)

On the Move

Colt refuses to do anything else! Standing at the couch is pretty much our day!
He's even started trying to climb up on to the couch, uh oh.

And lastly, pull all of the toys out of the toy box and then try to climb into the toy box. He also walked from one end of the couch to the complete opposite side this evening (holding on to the couch). I'll try to video that tomorrow!

Blog Break

Taking a break from blogging for a day or two...my camera is dead so I need to charge 'er up so I have something to post! Maybe tomorrow..... we visited the High Risk Infant Clinic at Children's on Friday for his 9 month adjusted visit. She said he's made huge progress since the last visit. We just need to keep up the therapy and work on sitting some more. He's actually done quite well with it the last few days. We've discovered that it isn't that he can't sit, it's mostly he doesn't want to. If we get him focused on a toy, he'll sit. But he just loves to move so much that he's off and running! He also just started cruising a little holding on to the couch.

He took his first big tumble Saturday evening. He has a little war wound to prove it (eyelid and nose were a little bloody). He's so darn brave he just tries to take off! He had a nice sob afterwards, but was smiling and laughing soon after. Many, many more to come I am sure.

He's into getting really mad when he has to go to sleep. This is new.... he used to love to go to sleep, no problems. So he's been a little challenging this past week. The little booger even started to hit and pinch at naptime. Hopefully this phase passes soon and he goes back to welcoming bedtime with open arms like I do! Pictures to come soon.......

Happy Birthday Grandma Mary!!

Little glimpses of sitting are coming our way.... Colt is learning how to correctly fall from standing to his butt which means he's starting to sit a little!

Today is Grandma Mary's birthday! Happy Birthday Mom! We love you soooooooooooo much.
