Patch

Colt has now figured out how to peel his patch off immediately after I apply it. This makes patch time pretty difficult these days. I'm trying to do glasses time and patch time together, so after about 20 minutes we had gone through every toy in the room so I had to resort to my cell phone to distract him. I was playing my music for him and apparently he LOVES Stealer's Wheel too!

It's been a sick week, Colt caught a cold and I caught the flu. Yuck. Laying low and trying to get better this week!

Cookie Stealer

Here is Colt and my friend Karen's adorable son Zeke. Zeke has decided that Colt's cookie looks like it should be his cookie!

Now Colt has the "I dare you to take my cookie again" face.

The little booger is one year old "Adjusted" today. Happy 1st Adjusted Birthday! And check out the cool track suit...our pal Maggie got that for him and it looks so darn cute!

Cornhusker

This little Red Nebraska shirt was mine when I was a baby. My mom found it the other day and thought it might fit Colt! He's getting brave, in this picture he's staring at the gate which is like 2 feet away....hmmmm....can I make it there?

More of the scrunchy face......it's the go-to-face for him now!

How sweet is this?

It's nice to have a big sister who loves you this much! I thought this was a cute picture of these two having story time together!

Scrunchy Face

This was the banana covered scrunchy face from about 6 months ago........

Bad photo of it, but the face is back! By popular demand, scrunchy face is back! I don't know where he gets this from but he does it all the time now.
We saw the pediatrician today and had a great visit. He weighs almost 22 lbs, which is the 10th percentile for weight for his real age. His height is almost 32 inches, which is 70th percentile for height for his real age. So he's still a skinny tall kid! He got 2 shots, but was a trooper about it. She still wants him on formula because he's thin, and said we could keep the bottle going for a few more months to make sure he keeps gaining weight since he hasn't been that interested in the sippy cup... but we'll keep trying. So if you still see him with the bottle, don't give me any lectures! The doctor said so :)
One nice thing about today's visit was that I had to ask Dr. Du what she thinks of his development since the teaching program needs to know where he's at. She says she doesn't think he has CP at all, just a minor gross motor delay (because he isn't walking yet and is 16 months old. He'll be one year adjusted next week, so by adjusted age he's doing okay. They just want him to start catching up to his real age faster).

Eyes

I think it is impossible to get a photo of Colt and I where he is involved in the photo.

I took Colt to the eye doctor today (my eye doc) just to get a second opinion. He said he agrees with mostly everything that the other doctor says, with the exception of the fact the he thinks he sees a little better because his vision makes things look a little bigger. He is fully functional sight-wise, just blurry. He may need a little eye muscle surgery in a year or two to correct his left eye because the muscle is weak so it wanders a little. He said he uses both eyes and focuses well, so that was good to hear! We have shots and a check-up at the pediatrician tomorrow.

Playing at the Park

Giggling with the girls at the park today!

I could kiss this sweet face all day!

Colt had fun crawling around in the grass at the park, playing on the swings, going down the slides and on the animals! It was a fun day for the kiddo!
We saw Colt's eye doc on Friday and he didn't say much other than I need to try harder to get him to wear his glasses (easier said than done). I am going to keep trying but that kid has a mind of his own and hates them! I am taking him this week for a second opinion, and also may schedule an appointment with a specialist soon just to make sure this doctor knows what he is talking about. He seems to think his vision is worse than we think it is. I am with him all day and see how he behaves, and it doesn't add up to what he says. He put some glasses on me to show me how Colt sees, and wow....it was blurry. Maybe he is right, but I just want to hear someone else say it too.
We also quit PT last week. Since our therapist moved away, we never really meshed well with our new therapist. So we'll enjoy some time off while I find a new one for us to work with!

Pip Squeak

Not a great video to show this, but Colt got some new shoes that have squeakers in them. They are supposed to help him want to take steps so he gets more into the idea of walking. (Not that we're pushing him to, he'll do it when he's ready). But his PT recommended them as a fun way to encourage it. He LOVES them!

If only I had half of his energy!

Handsome

This is Colt showing his "Yes, I know I am handsome" face.

And this is his "why am I still awake, it's way past my bedtime" face.

Too Cool

Colt was a TROOPER at Auntie Deir's birthday bash Saturday night. It was way past his bedtime but he was so good for us! He was all dressed up and looking so handsome in his big boy button down shirt. We thought this photo was pretty funny because he looks like he is trying to be so cool. He just started trying to stand on his own holding on to nothing! He managed 30 seconds on his own a few days ago and continues to try!

Dance, Dance, Dance

The rhythm has finally gotten to Colt! He's so funny when the music from his car comes on, he feels the need to boogie!!!

Maggie!

We haven't seen Maggie since the day we left Children's almost a year ago to the day (which is weird).....but we had lunch with her today and man, was it good to see her!! We get to see Colt's nurse practitioner, Toby, in two weeks which will be super cool too! It's so nice to stay in touch with all the wonderful people who took such fantastic care of our little guy. I think it's fun for them to see him doing so well and being so huge! He was all smiles (and giggles) for her today.

Happy Face

Here's our happy little man playing with his new car! This car has a little radio in it that plays music, and I think he's started to dance to it! I took a video of it but it was too dark, so maybe tomorrow I will get a good video. It's funny, the music goes on and he starts grooving!

Snip, Snip

Here's Colt with our pal Staci, talking about the facts of life :)

All trimmed up and looking handsome!

I know Colt seems really young for his first hair cut, but his hair was like feathers and was getting really long on the top. His hair has been an absolute mess lately, especially now that he likes to smear food in it. So when your good pal is a very talented hairdresser, you get the special treatment for a haircut at home in your high chair!

Bouncer

Just a little video of nothing in particular. I think the jumping up and down in the crib/pack n' play is funny! Back to the routine this week, we start back to therapy tomorrow so we will see how that goes after a really nice 2 weeks off! We get to go see Colt's other nurse, Maggie, on Thursday. We haven't seen her in a year, since he left Children's and was transferred to La Jolla. We're going to San Marcos to see her, so it will be fun since she hasn't seen him since he was 5 lbs. Just a small difference to now!

Family Photo

Here was our Christmas card photo this year. I didn't send out as many as I wanted to, so if you didn't get one (sorry). I ordered more but they came after Christmas :) So I thought I would post the photo anyway, and I can't remember if I already did? I'm taking a blog break this weekend but will be back to it on Monday.
Hope everyone rang in the new year safely! Happy 2009! Looking forward to a great year ahead.
