And the love affair continues.......
Colt loves to feel the furry creatures that run rampant in this house......he's into grabbing ears which I will have to explain isn't cool once he can understand that. For now, Sushi is more than happy to oblige him. He's just glad someone is paying attention to him.
Colt's little hand just opens and closes all over the fur, he's in awe of how it feels. It's so cute to watch his little hand reach out for the dog! (and oddly enough he only does it to Sushi, not Bob? Playing favorites already? Maybe it's because Bob wont sit still long enough)
Crazy earthquake today, huh? Scared us half to death! Hope everyone didn't get too frightened :)

Broken A.C. = Grumpy Family
Being lazy during tummy time......his favorite thing to do is find his hands and chew...no wonder tummy time wasn't working. He's found his thumb now, which is the finger of choice. He chews on it, but I wonder if he'll start being a thumb-sucker.
These two have a new love affair. Sushi knows now that Colt actually likes him now, Colt reaches out to touch him and loves when sushi gives him puppy kisses.

Smiley
I forgot I took this cute one on my cell phone yesterday after my camera died on me. Smiling away at his sister of course! We're off to watch Kelsey in her play tonight!! I'm sure she'll do great, maybe next year Colt will get to come watch too!

6 Months Adjusted!!
Fun at Physical Therapy! He's looking at my mom out of the corner of his eyes.....too many things at one time, trying to sit like a big boy and make faces at Grandma!
Colt was loving having his sister at therapy again, he just loves to look at her and smile! That isn't a cast on his arm, it's an arm immobilizer. It helps to get the arms straight so he learns to push up through his arms and shoulders.
Wait a minute....who is the one in physical therapy again? Kelsey was testing out the iGallup. It's a really fun horse riding simulator to work on core muscles. I had to try it out too, and it would be a pretty good workout!
Colt is 6 months adjusted today!

Papa
Saying hi to Papa Denny....he hasn't seen Papa in a long time!!! He was happy to see him, and told him he was silly which of course made him smile.
Trying to sit! He can get a six second or so sit by himself, but then he topples over. His teacher came today and she says that she doesn't think he'll need the twice a week physical therapy because he's improved so much in the last week or so. She's writing his quarterly report this week, so we did a bunch of tests to see what he could do and where his milestones are at. He did pretty good with the grabbing tests and the ball rolling test (to see if he notices that it went away).

Mr. Happy
Just saying the word "SILLY" makes him smile, I have no idea why. I tried a bunch of other words, but only SILLY gets this reaction.
Chubbiest cheeks ever!
I can't get this stupid picture to rotate, but how grumpy does Colt look. He even has out "the lip." He really is starting to hate the patch. He was initially okay with it, but now he gets mad and tries to rip it off the entire time or pouts like in this photo. We started our 2 times a week of therapy today and he did really good. They were impressed with his progress in a week since they hadn't seen him since last Wednesday.

Million Dollar Baby
Colt's hospital bill showed up today in the mail....and the grand total: WELL over a million dollars. THANK GOD FOR INSURANCE! Wow, a 5 pager with every little thing he needed during that time. His pharmacy bill alone was a few hundred grand.
I must say that he is worth every penny:)
I thought I would revisit a few of my favorite NICU moments while I was in that mode......

Kissy Face
Even if Colt wasn't doing this on purpose, I still think it's hilarious!! Giving his Big Sis a kiss.
Swimming at Grandma's house.....
Snuggled up and ready to poop out for the night!

Funny Guy
I know I posted a video very similar to this a few weeks ago, but I still think it's hilarious. He never laughs like this for me!! Only his Dad can get him going like this. Sorry if the video is shaky, I couldn't stop giggling along with him.
We saw the pediatrician this morning and HE'S FINALLY ON THE CHARTS FOR HEIGHT, WEIGHT AND HEAD! FOR HIS REAL AGE OF 9 1/2 MONTHS! WOOHOO! He's just a hair shy of 17 lbs. He gets to start on some other new foods like meats and those puffy little crackers that disolve. I am attempting to make homemade baby food today, since I have some weird aversion to canned/jarred meat. I don't know why, but I have an issue with jarred meat. We'll see how that lasts, since the baby food making thing isn't always easy. She also said he doesn't have any teeth that are about to cut through, so the cranky/drooly/biting thing may last awhile since it's only the pre-teeth cutting fun (great). He got one shot this morning and a finger stick to check for anemia (which he was fine).

Muscle Man
Colt did really well at therapy yesterday, his big sis came with us so I am pretty sure he was showing off for her (he only cried a tiny bit, which is great compared to a lot like normal. I think he didn't want to look like a sissy in front of her). His therapist, who is like the most optimistic person in the whole world, was really positive about his progress. We had a graduate student observing our session, and our therapist told her that we barely even need to be going to therapy and shortly won't qualify for it anymore. That's good news for us.
We put him in sitting position with his hands on his knees/or on the floor and he stayed for four seconds all by himself before toppling over. He also stayed up on his hands while on tummy time for 3 or 4 minutes at therapy, and I have never seen him do that before. His head control is getting better and better every day.
Hopefully one day soon, I will look back at all this worrying and laugh at myself.

A few random photos
Grandma Mary is reading Colt a book..about what else? Dogs of course. She will be turning him into an animal lover for sure. There's just no if, ands or buts about it. He looks pretty interested in it too.
If you have a few minutes and want to read something interesting, the blog that I still faithfully check everyday has a great post today about being a preemie parent. At www.cfhusband.blogspot.com you can check today's post. It's something I always wondered if other preemie parents felt, and he so very eloquently wrote some things that I felt along this journey. I love his blog, not just because I relate to raising a 24-weeker... but because he has a really neat perspective.
We're off to physical therapy today, so we're hoping for a good report! The neck strength is really improving.
