Finally!

Some cute little faces from my little monster......

We made the trek out to Tarzana yesterday: about 5 hours driving round trip! But thankfully, it was well worth the trip. We've spent tons of time at the eye doctor and I've never felt like they spent enough time checking him out to see what is going on with his vision. The doctor always waltzed in and waltzed out in about 2 minutes.
The doctor we saw in Tarzana spent a whole hour with us. They checked him every which way, with several different tests. It turns out, according to their tests, he can see much better than the previous doctor said. I knew he was wrong which was why we went all the way out to this new doctor, because Colt's behavior never matched up to what the other doctor said he could see (which was not much).
Dr. Takeshita says that Colt does not need patching because he does not have a lazy eye, instead he has cross fixation. This is where he uses his right eye to look to the left and vice versa. This is what makes his eye turn in. So he is recommending we go see the eye surgeon soon to have the eye muscle surgery. This way we can retrain the eye when he young so it doesn't get in the way of his development. He actually uses both of his eyes evenly which was great news.
He also says his glasses are WAY too strong, which is why he will not wear them. He says they probably make him really dizzy and uncomfortable to wear them because it's such a huge difference in what he sees the rest of the day without them. He's learned to function great without them, so it's hard for him to understand the huge difference. So they are getting us new glasses that are much more suited for his needs right now.

What a welcomed relief it must have been to have a doctor take the time to really look at the lil guy! He's lucky to have parents who are so on the ball! The pics always make us smile :0)
